Drama Review: Goong

We already posted the big Goong manga review! What brings us now to the K drama! Small girls ever dream from being a princess! But how that so really is does show the drama Goong!

Goong is a story about young love in face of tradition, politics, and intrigue. In the imaginary world, modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy and the Royal Family lives in a grand Palace, the Goong. Story opens with the sudden death of the reigning the King. Faced with the decreasing popularity among the public for the Royalty, a grand wedding for the Crown Prince, Lee Shin, is decided to be the best publicity move to improve the image of the Royalty and at the same time prepare Shin for immediate succession. The intended bride? The headstrong, awkward, and sweet spirited Shin Chae-kyung that just happens to go to the same exclusive art school. Chae-kyung was betrothed to become the next Crown Princess by her grandfather and Shin's grandfather.
After 14 years of living in England with his mom, Lee Yul appears all of a sudden. He is Shin's cousin as well as the former Crown Prince. Everything seemed to be going normally until Chae-kyung's optimistic spirit wins the heart of internally lonely, Yul. As the Crown Prince Shin and simple-minded Chae-kyung's relationship appear to developing deeper feelings, a series of scandals are exposed to the public right after the pair were officially announced married. Will love prevail all in a world of political pressures and martial hardships? Or will being in the spotlight of the public be too much for the young newlyweds to endure?

Cast:
Yoon Eun Hye as Shin Chae-kyung

Joo Ji Hoon as Lee Shin

Kim Jeong Hoon as Lee Yul

Song Ji Hyo as Min Hyo-rin

My opinion: Well as a drama addict I watched it in one night! My only problems is inly the actor of shin! I mean he is tall and dark, but he is not my shin! Crushed more on YuL, who is even more nice in the drama as in the manga! ( guys in the latest chapter YuL is really bad...have that killing intention XD) Anyways I still think that YuL suits min hyo-rin a lot! The actress of her is incredible pretty and femine! Like the actress is Chae-kyung is cute as expected! I am not talking about the rumours around the actors here, because what I post about is the drama itself! And its a good and great work! Sad that it ends so fast and I wish there would be a second season, also because the manwha still continues ( to read on onemanga and mangafox) If you r interested how the cute and selfconfident Chae kyung manages to get the hard of the trained and cold faced crown prince Shin, then watch the K drama!!!! =)

Maya's opinion : Well, I totally agree with the most part of her opinion xD Shin's actor is good but is no match for the manga's character and is true that Yul is more likeable in the drama!! What can I add more to this great post ?Well, this drama is really delightful to watch and you will pass by all the emotions possible while watching it x3 I never finished it though because I started it before reading the manga and when I started the manga I dropped the drama xD However since the manga is growing really really frustating (aaaaaarg damn Yul!), I'll finish it as soon as I have less things to watch, just to see the sweet ending ^_^ I'm not spoiling, it's not the ending you would expect from what I saw from some dmv x3
Anway I highly recommend you this drama, it rules and I'm not exaggerating =)

Well music-wise, I challenge anyone to recommend me a drama whose soundtrack can beat that of Goong's!

I've never gotten tired of those cello and piano instrumentals, for one. And "Perhaps Love" (Sarang een ga yo) is a classic! They made a Filipino version, here's a link: Pag-Ibig na Kaya? (sorry this is the best one i could find)

Anyways I haven't read the goong manga so I can't comment on the comparison. Maybe I'll get back to this post in the future ^^
